KIKA gallery is pleased to announce the exhibition of Dutch artist Sander Wassink, currently based in Japan. “Sensory echoes” could be described as the lingering sensations or memories of sensory experiences. When we experience something through our senses, whether it’s seeing a beautiful landscape or hearing a favorite song, the memory of that experience can stay with us long after the initial moment has passed. These memories can be triggered by similar stimuli in the future, creating a sort of “echo” of the original sensory experience. Wassink creates sensory experiences that blend physical and digital elements by using collected objects, sounds, and videos from the forests and rivers of Japan. The exhibition invites visitors to explore the interplay between the physical and digital realms, highlighting the complex connections between materials, time and space. Please take this opportunity to enjoy Sander Wassink’s work, which is reflection on the impact of technology on our understanding of the natural world.
