Starting from the study of the 19th-century English novel, I have expanded my interest to the history of various narrative forms and arts, and to the theoretical frameworks for discussing them. With such historical perspectives in mind, I have recently been examining the status of fiction in contemporary society. As the environment surrounding knowledge changes drastically, I write and hold events while considering how scholarly accumulations should be inherited and developed in the future.
